Your Life Verse

View More: http://brianschindler.pass.us/the-reback-familyThe purpose of TheRebacks.com is to grow a community of parents who can encourage and strengthen one another in this most challenging job of raising a family.

I am asking you to BELIEVE WITH ME that this task is not only doable, but enjoyable and fulfilling.

We will see these children grow up to accomplish the great works God has ordained for them before they were even born (Ephesians 2:10). We will raise up masterpieces for His glory, with His help.

But we first have to BELIEVE that this is possible.

Like any successful endeavor, we have to start this process with a focus in mind. A focus or mission is a simple description that helps us make decisions…Where else can we find such clarity except in the Word of God?

So here is what I am asking you: In the comments below, write your life verse, or a verse you believe God has spoken over your family. If you want to, you can also put down your children’s life verse, or a verse that the Holy Spirit has showed you to be something about them, or something maybe as a parent you need to work on with them.

If this thought process is new to you, then begin to pray and ask God to give you a clear calling through His Word for your family. This “mission statement” is what, more than anything else, has narrowed our focus as parents and has made so many decisions easier for David and I.

I’ll start with ours. Several years ago, when Kemper was a baby, this verse just literally jumped right off the page at me. Reading through this section of Scripture, I had the very real sense that THIS is our calling:

“Those from among you shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generatioons;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Paths to dwell in.” – Isaiah 58:12

I’ll be honest and say that at the time I was completely clueless as to what that verse actually meant. It took me well over five years to even begin to understand it. It took me another couple of years before I had an inkling of how we were to fulfill it.  But today, I stand in that gap, that breach, and pray for your families, hoping that the words we write through our website bring restoration and healing. I pray that the experiences we share with you help you lay a firm foundation for your families through a deepening faith in Jesus Christ and in His Word. David and I are desperate to reach out and bring hope and help to parents and this next generation! And now this obscure verse that I knew God was speaking to me has more meaning than almost any other scripture in the Book.

I’d love to hear your verses. I’d love to pray and believe with you for a specific verse over your family, your child or even just your own personal calling!

    Kristin, the walls are gorgeous! You are extremely resourceful and talented!  We use verses in our home as artwork to remind us daily. One of my favorite gifts I ever received was a watercolor by Levitt, a Jewish artist, of Prov. 31.  Additionally, as Jer. 29:11 is so important to us, I found it on LNT.com (used to be Linens and Things) They sell several scripture in vinyl you stick on walls.  It’s not as fancy as yours, but it makes a beautiful addition to our home at a surprisingly affordable price.

    Thanks for this! I’m a working mom and was only able to breastfeed while on maternity leave. I’ve felt guilty for this before. It was completely necessary for me to implement the “baby wise” plan in order for me to sleep 8 hours a night and not have to be on a demand feeding schedule. This post was especially encouraging for me.

    I have a question. I’m due with my next baby girl in 8 weeks and I want to implement baby wise again, but this baby will be in our room in a bassinet until she can sleep through the night in order to not wake up our other daughter in the middle of the night. Any suggestions on how to make this transition easier?  How do you transition your new infants into a room where they will be sharing the room with other siblings that are already sleeping through the night? Thanks!

    Aidens life verse: ” for I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” -Jeremiah 29:11

    Will be praying about a life verse for our family!
