Several years ago now, a dear friend gave me a book about all the great cathedrals of Europe. History, drawings, and photographs of some of the most mind blowing architecture built for the Glory of God that others may come and worship.
The inscription on the front of the book (paraphrased) was that although many of the architects and builders of such great structures are long dead and rarely known by name, their sacrifice and work was completely appreciated by God and centuries of worshippers have enjoyed meeting the Lord because of their efforts. Basically, no one else may see the work we are doing as a parent, the lives we are raising for His ultimate glory, but He sees. Generations will be changed because of the quiet work we do in the kitchen, the dining room, the bath times and bedtimes, and throughout the night when the children are ill.
Those cathedral architects worked for an earthly king and in many cases died before the work was completed, before a first service or mass was ever held. We work for a loving Heavenly Father who is also King of the Universe, and He will reward us openly for the work He sees us doing in private. We will live to tell of His glory and goodness to future generations, we will see our children grow up and live out their faith believing they are favored and dearly beloved.
So do not grow weary, my friends. You are building a great edifice with the help of your loving Father who sees your every struggle and sacrifice. Your cathedral is a beautiful work and the architect and builder is God. How can you mess this up? You can’t. The work is completed and perfected from His vantage point of eternity. Walk in it. He who began a good work in you, your spouse, your children…will be faithful to complete it.

This goes for teachers too! You might not feel the impact at the time, but years down the road you will see the difference that you might have made in their lives.
