You Choose The Soundtrack of Their Life

When Daly Kay was a baby, I was a “baby believer” (very new in my faith) and so I didn’t have a plethora of hymns to fall back on as a lullaby. I knew Amazing Grace, and I sang that to her before every nap and bedtime. By four months of age, it didn’t matter where we were, if I sang that song, she would close her eyes and fall asleep.

19 years have passed and I still sing that song almost every day. But now, to put my wee ones down, I sing over and over again, “Mama loves her baaaaaa-bies, Mama loves her baaaaaa-bies…” And the rhythmic (albeit awful) tone lulls them and they continue humming the tune and rocking themselves to sleep even after I put them down. In fact, while I was on another continent two weeks ago, Stone sung that song to put himself to sleep! He was missing Mama, but he continued to sing that I loved him even when he couldn’t hear my voice.

Moms and Dads, the things you say and sing over your children will echo in their ears long after they leave your presence. What you sing does not have to sound pretty, but it should be a simple reminder of your love and the Love the Father has for them. It will be the soundtrack in their mind and heart.

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

I am working on getting my Wison Reading certification and have always had a passion for teaching children to read. I bought this book after reading this because I am always looking for new ways to teach reading. The book arived the other day and low and behold it was created by “Reading Mastery” a program I have used for years! Love it! Thank you!
