A young friend of mine had suffered a set back. She thought her life was going one direction and then all of a sudden– things changed. She was disappointed to say the least. As we talked in my kitchen, I tried to encourage her.
“Why would God do this to me?” she asked.
“Aw hun. God doesn’t do things TO us, He does them FOR us. You’ll see.” I replied.

It was a point I quickly wrote down to share with all of you.
As I encouraged my young friend I reminded her that God works all things together for the GOOD of those who love Him and are called according to HIS purpose (Romans 8). We talked about how God is FOR us, and He is on our side. I told her if this thing she had wanted was GOOD for her, God would not withhold it from her (Psalm 37). I just basically tried to remind her that when “bad” things happen or things don’t exactly go according to our plans, that God is working things out for a BETTER plan, something far greater than what we can see right in front of us.
And while I *think* she left encouraged, maybe some of you will be encouraged today too. God isn’t withholding something from you, He hasn’t “done this” TO you, He’s working things out FOR you. He is FOR you. WITH you. He loves you. And so do I.

This is so true, and a time to draw closer to God for strength and peace. When I miscarried one of my twin babies, it was so hard, but God gave me so much PEACE during that time, and even now (because it still hurts). He has simply asked me to Trust in His perfect plan for me, and that’s what I chose to do. There’s a reason and a purpose, and one day we will see it.
