I’m sorry….WAS THERE EVEN A BLEEPING QUESTION? Was there even a question as to whether the gorilla should be shot or not? Was there even a doubt in any sane person’s mind? What the heck has this world come to where we are questioning whether the gorilla — who nearly drowned the child dragging him through the moat and before the video had been turned on, banged the child’s head against the wall (as per eye witness reports)– should be protected over the life of a child????
Good thing this was Cincinnati…if it were Texas it would have been open season on gorilla and my guess is 911 would have been an afterthought.
And for every critic tossing blame on the mother….SERIOUSLY? Anyone who has had the *privilege* of keeping an eye on a toddler at a zoo or theme park has at least one “OH $H!T” moment where they realize they have NO CLUE where the little bugger has gone off to. I can count on both hands how many times I’ve been absolutely terrified for more than a moment for the whereabouts of my young children! Kids have an absolute gift for putting their lives in peril on at least a twice daily basis and it is truly a testament to God and His angels that we don’t all suffer far worse than this poor child for our own foolishness/childishness at any point during our growing up.
Truthfully, the gorilla isn’t the issue. The child and his mother are not the issue. The issue is our culture’s screwed up priorities that there is even a discussion or a doubt about what should have been done to protect this child as he fell into/wandered into/deliberately/mischievously/stupidly/or accidentally wound up in a gorilla’s cage.
