What we sound like to our enemies…

There’s a magnificent story in the book of 2 Kings chapter seven. The city is under siege and a famine has been so bad that women have been devouring their own children. Two dying lepers, near death by starvation, decide to take their chances at the enemy’s camp and beg for mercy and food. Figuring they had nothing to lose, they set out. As they neared the camp, the Lord magnified the sound of their approach, and the two left-for-dead nobodies sent the enemy of the nation running for the hills. The Bible says that to the enemy, these lepers sounded like a mighty army and many horses on the attack. They left their camp, saddled with livestock, grain, gold and weapons and the lepers feasted!
Many times as a parent, we can feel like these lepers. Inconsequential. Starved. Alone.
It sometimes seems like our enemy is so big, our world and all that glitters before our children – the things that we fear will drag them away -is just too great a foe for lil’ ol’ us.

What you and I look like…in my imagination…as we pray for our families, our nation…
Many times in my nation, I feel like those lepers. What difference can I really make? The challenges are so large that the thought of even beginning is overwhelming.
But we must remember that a believin’ momma can be enough to send an enemy running. A faithful father can sound like a troop coming. The Lord can magnify the sound of our approach and make us seem like a mighty army. At the end of a rough week, many times we may feel like those lepers, but the enemy hears us coming and will run. He has to.
So take heart today in your parenting.
If you are feeling small, starving, or like the job you are doing is inconsequential…then Believe With Me that the Lord will magnify our steps, He will make us like the sound of a rushing army on the attack of our soul’s enemy. He will magnify His name through little us, our little children, and leave us a blessing and provision as we set out. And when you have grasped that truth, even just a little bit of it, the Lord will magnify our feeble steps of faith and set our enemy running.
Remember, we fight from Victory, not for it.
