We Are All In This Together

I began writing this blog because I had gained a lot of experience in parenting that I believed many parents could benefit from.  I had learned, mostly through trial and error, fault and failure, what to do and sometimes more importantly, what not to do.  I figured you would probably rather learn from my hard knocks than receive lumps of your own.  And I think many of you have gotten something out of reading my blog over the last two and a half years, even if it is only to shore up in your own mind why you do it differently.

Parenting is a tough gig.  We all make mistakes.  No one gets through this job feeling like they got it all right.  Truthfully, I wonder if any one parent makes it through an entire day feeling like they nailed it.  Many of you have written me emails, texts, and facebook messages asking me questions and instantly I realize how many of us share in the same or similar challenge – so I write about it.  I may witness a conversation or be asked a parenting or marriage question and realize that I may have a solution…so I write about it.  I share these thoughts never mentioning names, never giving any specifics, because I feel that if we can all benefit from someone’s experiences, then rock on.

I have shared many mistakes with you.  I never want you to think I got this all right, every day, first time around, every time.

I write this because…I love you.  I love you my friends and I love your kiddos even more.  I want all of us to succeed in this parenting gig….and by success I mean kids that grow up to know they are loved and favored by God, adored and treasured by their parents, and empowered in their faith to accomplish the mission God created them to fulfill.  If I write something that we discussed, please know my intention is that everyone would benefit or give a moment of thought to a subject in parenting they may have overlooked if it were not for your bringing it up to me.  We are all in this thing together.  We can all learn from one another.  A momma to momma conversation can turn into one mom sharing with a thousand others…that may in turn affect the lives of thousands of children!  So I am asking for your questions and listening to your challenges.  I am open to the issues and troubles we all either have faced or will face as we march toward the incredible futures God has in store for our children.  Soldier on, moms and dads.  I believe in you!
