Every once in a while someone will ask me if I have a favorite child. And I respond that my favorite at the moment is the one who needs me the most.
The sickest.
The saddest.
The most worried or the one struggling. My heart hurts and bends for that child and I desperately try to eek out as much time in the day and all night if necessary for that child.
But then my heart sings with the one happy.
The one experiencing joy.
Victory.
Overcoming.
Then there are the team wins.
The times we all come through a tough week.
A tough year.
A real struggle.
So they each are my favorites…and I’ve learned something in that realization.
We are all God’s favorite.
James chapter 1 says there is no favortism with God…and yet as we read through the Old Testament we find continuously throughout our favorite stories that they “found favor”….Esther, Ruth, David just to name a few.
This doesn’t mean that God loves us all just equally, just enough to barely cover every one of us….but that He loves us all SO IMMENSELY that there is not one who is His favorite….we all are.
