Watching a Dream Unfold…

Posted by Lyette Reback on June 12, 2015.
.

David and Courson left yesterday to go see Jesse graduate from naval officer candidate school in Rhode Island.  You remember Jesse…our “satellite kid” who’s been an extended member of the family since he was about 18? Here’s a picture from just a few years ago of Courson and Jesse at Daly Kay’s 15th birthday party:

Courson doesn’t remember the last time he was on a plane at one year old…so this was him at takeoff.

And then the rest of the afternoon and evening Jesse got to spend with his mom and dad and several other family members who made the trip for graduation…here’s a picture of Jesse with his mama…don’t they look so alike??

But of course, Lil’ Bro Courson thinks this is just about the coolest thing ever.

For those of you that don’t know, we adopted Courson when he was two weeks old. He weighed less than two pounds and had to overcome plenty of hurdles to become this strong…

But ever since he was a wee baby the Lord whispered that Courson would grow up to  be a mighty warrior…and Courson has his sights set on the United States Military Academy at West Point.  So for our family, Jesse’s graduation marks the first of many dreams coming true…we have loved on Jesse and gotten to watch him grow through high school, university, and now moving on to realize his dream of Naval Officer serving the greatest country on earth…and Courson gets to enjoy the pomp and circumstance and see that with hard work anything is possible.

Of course, after this weekend, Courson may be thinking Annapolis is the way to go…

Courson

It’s a wonderful weekend in our family when we get to see the fire of service being stoked in the heart of our oldest son, Courson,  and enjoy watching Jesse continue to reach towards his lifelong goal of service, aviation, and continuing towards  leadership in government.

So take a look around you. Are there youth in your community that could use some solid loving and encouragement from someone outside their family? Are there college students you can love on? Have you reached out to care for some of the teens you know are going through a tough time? Because you never know what part of watching them walk in their calling you may get to be a part of.

And I’m here to tell you it is worth the effort on your behalf. The rewards are staggering.

Jesse dear…we are proud of you and we love you.

Wahhhh! I loved this post….this is REAL Christ in ACTION! The picture of Courson in Jesse’s hat/cover is priceless. It is a ministry in and of itself watching how YOU minister to others….it shows everyone else how they could incorporate one more heart into their family. Congrats to Jesse!!
