It’s 5am. We are off for one final road trip before the start of a new school year and a final hurrah before we buckle down. The children had a list of things they wanted to do this summer, and I think with this road trip we will have accomplished most of them!
Follow along as we brave 18 hours of driving to reach our destination…6 days, two cars, one filmmaker, one assistant, 15.75 kids, two parents…13 pieces of luggage, 12 back packs (filled with God only knows), 108 outfits, 5 cans of hair spray, 100 diapers, and 2 portable cribs, one double stroller and a partridge in a pear tree. Dear Lord, we have been packing for over 13 hours. Well, at least I can be thankful we have so many to pack for and plenty to come with us.
Among a few other stops, our main goal is to be at the first Philadelphia Eagles Pre-Season game. That’s right…all this for a football game. Last year, we became Eagles fans when Cody Parkey became their kicker with a last minute trade from the Colts…ironically that’s who they will be playing against this Sunday. Cody became one of their most valuable players having scored 150 points his very first NFL season, and set a new NFL rookie scoring record! Cody scored in 32 of his 36 field goal attempts and we all nearly went horse screaming every time he came on the field…we were sure he could hear us cheering in Philly all the way from Florida. What a great football season we enjoyed in 2014!
And now, as if having a local kid make it to the NFL isn’t exciting enough, Tebow is also vying for a spot on the field. David had promised the boys an NFL game this year and so we figured what better team to go see than the one with two players we all adore.
So it’s off to Philly we go. Cheesesteaks, Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell. The Eagles. Parkey. Tebow. 17 hours minimum each way. We are expecting to capture some awesome footage…so stay tuned. The Rebacks are coming! The Rebacks are coming! The Rebacks are coming!!!
