Baby Vaughn: The Vaughn and Only
I discovered I was expecting on Good Friday…and before the day was done I was bleeding. A lot.
I called my obstetrician and he said just to come in on Monday. It was most likely another miscarriage.
That made Easter difficult to celebrate. Actually, the entire weekend all I could think about was just making it to
Monday, hearing the bad news, and going through the process. It was the worst Easter ever.
Monday morning I was in the sonographer’s room at my OB’s office.
“Wow!” Was all she said.
There on the screen was a BABY. Apparently I was a lot farther along than I thought. Ten weeks.
But there was also a rather large hemorrhage of blood inside the womb and the baby’s chances were grim. Bedrest and time were the only answers doc could give me. We’d just have to wait and see.
Bedrest with a houseful of children. At least it gave me time to work on my book and finish up some other writing projects! After six weeks the hemorrhage was clear but that was just the beginning of about five different issues this pregnancy had. We really had to do some fighting this time around. And that’s how we came up with his name.
Y’all know we are patriots. We love this country. We love those who battle on our behalf and we love our Gold Star families. So we named the baby after the Vaughn Family whose Navy SEAL son was killed in Afghanistan in 2011. You can see the story in the video below. Please share today’s post so that Aaron’s legacy and the sacrifice the Vaughn family has made can be honored far and wide.

He sure is a beautiful baby and so are the rest of the family. Thank you for everything you do and for remembering my grandson Aaron when you named your precious baby boy.

I’m Karen’s mother, billy’s mother-in-law. Aaron was my first grandchild and this story brought me to tears even though the kids told me all about it when it happened. You have a wonderful family and I hope I can stay on earth long enough to see what they accomplish. I may not make it to little Vaughn’s 20’s, but I will enjoy hearing about the other boys and girls in your family. Thank you for honoring my grandson. He was awesome.
Lyette Reback says
Evelyn, what an honor. Your family has meant the world to me and I’m so grateful God allowed us all to cross paths. Your grandson was awesome because awesomeness apparently flows through his viens from his awesome family you all have. May God grant baby Vaughn the same awesomeness. Love to you and I look forward to meeting soon. God bless you in every way.

I love your name posts! How did you come up with Vaughn’s middle name?
