I wanted to do one last project as a family before Ryli and Bliss headed off to school. One last hurrah as a family before life moved at an even faster pace with fall sports and school and crazy crazy. I thought we would do some small paint and weed day. But God had other plans.
He has opened doors and opened hearts and opened wallets and we are walking in faith and continually blown away. A small one day project has become an intense week-long complete home renovation for the Schumann family. Our team has grown to include new friends that I know by the end of next week we will be like family. Constant phone calls, texts, and emails have my normally crazy life looking calm by comparison. And I am loving every minute of it.
Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to show love and affection to our service members and especially to those who have lost loved ones. I finally feel like that desire was placed there strategically by God and after all these years we have something more that we can do other than simply say thank you on designated holidays! I want to thank all of you for your participation and for believing with me that America’s Gold Star families are precious and deserving of our love and gratitude. Thank you for taking part in our endeavors to serve those that have given us so much! Thank you for being grateful Americans who acknowledge that our every opportunity and our very safety come at a great cost, and that those who have borne that are worthy of honor.
I know that starting tomorrow at 7:30am, our lives will be crazy. But it will be the best and most gratifying kind of crazy ever. Thank you for coming along for the ride and I hope you’ll follow along on social media and share our updates. If we can make more Americans aware of our Gold Star families, if we can bring those families hope and help, if we can truly love and serve our city and love those who have given us so much, then all the sleeplessness and exhaustion will be worth it.
If you are interested in volunteering or donating, go here. If you would like to purchase something on our Amazon wish list, go here. And if you could share this post on social media, share the amazon wish list on social media, or share the donate page, I would be grateful. It’s a small thing to do for a family who has given us so much.
#BelieveWithMe that #OperationGratefulNation is the beginning of not just restoring a family’s home, but restoring our nation. Unity. Love. Honor. Sacrifice.
