Last year, we drove (through the night) to Parris Island for a Marine Corps Graduation where we visited with the Stand Alone Marines…men and women who graduated without any family members able to be present.
It was an incredible experience that coincided with the anniversary of my father’s death. My father was the Marine who stole my heart as a child and made me love America.
Tonight, we are trekking back up to South Carolina for another Marine Corps graduation!
This time, we will be loving on those Stand Alone Marines, but we also have a graduate to congratulate! Matthew Paxton has been a Marine in the making from the time he was a wee little boy. Climbing every tree, every stick was a gun, making forts, traps, and adventures everywhere he went. He was more than a bundle of energy and would go from swim team, to water polo, to the gym and then out for a run…usually all be noon!
He has always been a driven young man, but he sent his mother for a loop this past Christmas when he came home and decided to take a semester off of from college and become a Marine.
Follow along with us on social media as we drive through the night and attend yet another spectacular display of America’s youth willing to defend their beloved country.
It’s always an adventure when the 18 of us climb into the car and head out onto the open road!

It is so beautiful that you are able to support and honor your friend by being there on such an important day. It is the ultimate way to give back to your country, God bless him and keep him.
Me……………I want to know what kind of car a family of 18 piles in to. LOL
Safe travels.
