This is birthday season, Vaughn’s birthday is the second of November, Ransom’s is the third. Seems like all we do around here is buy birthday cakes!
Ransom’s a big planner. He had his birthday plans rolling around for three months before he finally decided that a birthday date to Legoland would be the best way to spend his special day.
I don’t think he slept a wink the night before.
Up before dawn, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at a local diner and spent two and a half hours on the road rocking out. We talked all about music, famous rock and roll stars, and listened to a few podcasts…he cracked up when Bishop TD Jakes was gettin’ all fired up yellin’ “bout Jesus.
And Ransom’s laugh is just about the best sound this side of heaven.
Ransom always remembers to hold the doors open for me…What a sweetheart!
At Legoland, I chased him relentlessly as he ran from one ride to the next store to the next play area. He collected minifigures, built and programmed a lego robot, and we rode the rides over and over again.
The car ride home was followed by a late night football game for his brother. We finished the day at Gelato Grotto, our favorite special desert stop. At the end of it all, we both enjoyed a day spent building legos and memories.
These days fly by so fast. Ransom’s 8 years on this earth have been a blip and in another 8 years he’ll be driving! Enjoy every minute, moms and dads. The days are long but the years are short– and before we even realize it– they are grown and gone.
