Ryli has always been interested in medical missions…ever since she was a wee tot. She has the heart of an evangelist and a fascination with healing and the art/science of medicine.
I had been searching for a medical missions trip for Ryli as a graduation present. Haiti seemed close by and yet worlds apart from our own comfort zone. As God would have it, a neighbor has a medical missions trip to Haiti twice yearly and an ongoing local effort at tutoring children from Haiti in Palm Beach County! The trip was leaving in less than two weeks from the date I found out about it and now we are less than 48 hours from departure!
As we have been busy going from store to store buying scrubs, snacks, shoes, getting medicine to protect against Malaria, and stickers for the kiddos we will have the opportunity to serve, I have been praying God would do a major work in our lives. I am praying He will reveal things to Ryli and I and teach us so much. I know I will miss my other children immensely while we are gone…and I am sure David will have his hands more than full without me…but in the midst of all this sacrifice we are expecting God to show up big time.
Will you pray with us and for us?
Have you ever been to Haiti?
Do you have any testimonies you would like to share in the comments below about a missions trip you took and how God showed up?
Ryli and I want to thank you in advance for all your prayers during our travels! I can hardly wait to share stories and photos with you all!

One time, when I went on a mission trip to the Domincan Republic, my team had extra cash so we went to a local hospital to see what we could use it for. The hospital Staff took us on a tour of the hospital and told us the stories of many patients. One lady that we decided to help had a cut of her arm about one inch long and not, very deep. She had cut it about a month earlier working in a field with a tool. Because she didn’t have clean water or simple, medicine, like Neosporin or alcohol, to clean it out, it has gotten infected and she was in the hospital, now waiting to get her arm apputated! But she didn’t have the money for the procedure. We were able to donate the money to the hospital for her care. When we got home, we also sent a big box of basic medical needs, like Neosporin, bandaids, alocohol wipes, Tylenol, etc to the hospital. It was a very eye opening experience seeing how the lack of something so abundant in America could have Such a negative effect. Praying you have a great trip!!

Ephesians 2:8 & 9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
