Praying For Our Sons…and Future Son In Laws.

Our boys with our friend Roscoe at football try-outs!

During my quiet time, I felt led to Isaiah 45. I sat in my boy’s bedroom while they all slept during nap time and just marveled at this Scripture. As I broke it down and searched out exactly what I felt the Holy Spirit speaking to me, I prayed in a way that I felt completely shifted something.

Have you ever had that happen in a prayer?

You sense the breakthrough? You feel the understanding on a deep level? You KNOW you’ve been heard– and although you have no idea what the answer to the prayer was, you KNOW it has been answered?

“Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and His Maker, Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.” – Isaiah 45:11

“Ask”– ask, enquire, beg, consult, seek, grant, be given on request

“of things to come” – to come, arrive, (of men, time, beasts, calamity), to bring

“concerning My sons”– son, grandson, child, member of a group, children, youth, people of a nation

“concerning the work”– work, deed, doing, wages, aquisition

“of my hands”– hand, strength, power

“command”– to command, charge, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, order, appoint

The Lord says go ahead and ask Him what He is going to do with our sons, our grandsons, our son in laws, our children, the youth of this nation! The Lord of all creation wants us to ask so we can know how to raise them, equip them, pray for them, prepare them! He wants to COMMUNICATE WITH US ABOUT IT!

Then, even crazier still, He wants us to ask Him what we want for our family, the future spouses of our children, our heritage and even that of the entire youth of the nation!

I looked over the five little boys napping so peacefully in the room as I studied through what that all meant. I pondered my future son-in-laws and then just got down to business with the Lord. I spoke so fast, prayed so fervently, and felt a freedom and a strength to pray and ask Him for things in a way I had not ever felt before. Later on in that same chapter, the Lord says,

“I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways…”(vs.13)

You see from His perspective, all our prayers about our boys are answered. They are fulfilled. He is looking for parents to partner with Him in praying for, believing, and prophesying these amazing works over these children. He loves them infinitely more than we do…and He did not create them for mediocrity and mundane living.

Heavenly Father,
I pray that all of us would receive a deeper understanding of these scriptures. I pray for audacious faith to ask for the impossible. Strength to prophesy the most outrageous acts of worship and courage over our sons and future son-in-laws. Lord raise up the Daniels, the Josephs, the Stevens, the Timothys. Give us the strength, courage, and ability to raise such men, and demand that type of man for our daughters.
In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

“I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways…”(vs.13) Thankful God is directing.

Now is the best time for me to start praying for the spouses of my children.

Thank you for sharing. It was on time for me. It brings even more hope, deeper understanding of the power we carry when we carry it to the Lord! I will walk in that audacious faith and pray for what seems to be impossible, except for our Lord.

This was a blessing for me.

Thank you again and be blessed today!
