Finally. After twenty years of parenting. Five years of planning. Three years of blogging. Decades of praying. Hoping. Believing.
The book is finally here!
The first prayer I prayed when Daly Kay was born has become the title of my new book, “Please God Don’t Let Me Screw This Up!” Never in my life were eight words more sincerely shot heavenwards than these…and I believe it is a prayer that every parent has uttered at one point or another.
Parenthood is overwhelming. Scary. And quite possibly the most important job we’ll ever undertake– as it involves the future adult we are trying to raise and our every heartstring in the meantime. Through my experiences of parenting 15 children, 10 daughters and five sons, I share with you some of my most humbling moments, hard-earned lessons, and hopeful insights. My prayer is that this book would leave you encouraged and full of strength to face your own parenting dilemmas, knowing you’ve got a friend in me. I’ll be your comrade in arms, fighting in the trenches alongside you, believing the best for you and your family.
“Please God Don’t Let Me Screw This Up!” — Real hope and help from a mom of 15. Because that’s what every parent prays, and what every parent needs.

Dear Lyette,
Enjoying reading your book with my husband and being encouraged and inspired. Last night, I just kept reading even after he fell asleep – until 2:30am! (Please know that my voice is beautiful to my husband as it lulls him to a sweet slumber as I read to him – he loves it as I read the Bible and something else, like your book, because he feels like God and I put him to bed each night!)
Thank you for your heart for families and our nation. And for showing, by example, the path to loving our families more intentionally, strategically, and joyfully in God’s image for all to see.
You’re awesome! Sincere blessings, Barbara

Me again, finished sharing your book with my hubby, and I really wanted to thank you again for writing it. Your secret weapon – memorizing Scripture is awesome. I love your point – “the Word hidden in their hearts, the Spirit bears witness” to both child and parent – just beautiful. “Never Leave a Man Behind” policy is a good one, one that would have protected a child of mine; therefore I thank God for his Word (Romans 8:28 to be exact) that gives me peace now and about the future. Then “service can sometimes be a clever disguise for running away from issues” is an epidemic this days among many parents; thank you for so lovingly pointing this out. And thank you for turning the strong-willed child into a benefit or gift from God; truly wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Last but not least, still love “ride , Sally ride!”! It’s so true. Thank you for being real, really loving, and really lovable. My husband and I give thanks for you and your loving heart, and we pray for God’s abundant blessings upon you and your family.
