Yesterday was a whirlwind. It began at 4am for me as I worked writing, posting, making lists and throwing every idea I had out there to get support for The House That Love Built. By 7:30 when kids started moving around, I was already on my third cup of coffee.
David and Kemper headed to the office for sorting gifts. So far, 84 kid’s gifts are in and sorted– ready to wrap. I sure hope today’s mail brings a SIGNIFICANT portion of the rest of our nearly 300 gifts!
Glory and Trinity manned our event at Vineyard Vines. They stayed down there all day talking to anyone who would listen about our mission to bring hope and help to Gold Star families.
Courson, Liberty, Judson, Shepherd, Ransom, Soji, Crickie, Stone, Ver and Vaughn trekked all over town with me looking for bears to put in our gift boxes for Gold Star kids. It was a long day that included multiple fist fights in the back seat, a stop at Sonic for lunch, one potty accident and me pulling over at least 5 times to set things right.
By 3pm, I had handed off little kids to David for swim practice, and flew down to Palm Beach for the Sip and Shop at Vineyard Vines (after picking up BelieveWithMe T-shirts from Lisa Edwards at the mall THANK YOU LISA!).
From there, Kemps, Glo and Trin had a youth group event while I answered as many of the 9,856,452 emails (that’s only a slight exaggeration) as I could.
I then drug them to Staples so I could get some last minute wrapping supplies, stopped at the Dollar Store and Walgreens, and we headed home.
To find David and his friend setting up a million duck decoys.
Because of course– we need to go hunting in the middle of our wrapping weekend.
I love this man and his “we can do it all” attitude.
I climbed into bed with a bottle for baby Vaughn and snuggled him till we both dozed off. I don’t know what time David came to bed and put the baby in his crib, but man…
I’m just so thankful for this opportunity to serve America’s Gold Star families with you. It’s exhausting but so rewarding. We are experiencing the ability to give back to these families that have given us so much and what an incredible joy. I’m so thankful that you #believewithme. I hope you’ll join us on our quest to give a Gold Star family a new home by Christmas. Please tell your friends and family about what BelieveWithMe is doing! Ask them to give $1 to a family that gave us our freedom. Help us get our message out about how thousands of #gratefulamericans can, with only $1 let a Gold Star family know that their sacrifice is not forgotten. Y’all…with God all things are possible. I don’t know how He’s gonna do this, but you can be a part of His work if you just share what we are doing.
