As parents, don’t we all desperately hunger for someone to just TELL US WHAT TO DO??? Isn’t there a go to manual of “if/then’s” that will lay out for us step by step how we should parent these kids and disciple them, discipline them, train them up?
I know of only one. An open, conversational relationship with the Creator of our child, Almighty God.
“I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!” – Ephesians 1
Today as I read the scriptures and prayed for hurting families I know of, I just prayed like Paul did in the above section of Ephesians chapter 1. I prayed that these parents would know Him personally. That their eyes would be focused and clear, despite whatever overwhelming and confusing circumstances they are facing. I prayed that they would see exactly HOW God wants to heal and use their families, teach and train the parents and the children, and how they were to walk towards and in the good works He has prepared for them to do.
I prayed for endless energy.
Boundless strength.
I asked Him to help us grasp the immensity of this glorious life and calling He has for each of us. And then I prayed He would give us the boldness to step out and parent and be the example our kids need to fall back on when they struggle. To be the parents who would listen and love them through their battles. To be the kind of people who could grasp the loving hand of a Heavenly Father who didn’t even spare His own Son as a gift to us, and will gladly strengthen us as we parent the second greatest gift He ever gave us outside of Salvation…our children.
Be blessed today, mom and dads. He is with and for you.

Easy to run to books or other Moms when we are feeling desperate , good reminder to go first to our Heavenly Father. Thanks for the reminder.
