Life and parenting can sometimes be very overwhelming. I happen to know just a little bit about feeling overwhelmed. I actually wrote a chapter about it in my book “Please God Don’t Let Me Screw This Up!” and there are plenty of times I have to go back and follow my own advice.
That being said, an important perspective to share with you (as I’m lecturing myself internally) is the “It’s Only For A Season” mentality. As a parent, we go through seasons that are just more crazy than others.
Up all night newborn? It’s only for a season. That baby will eventually learn to sleep through the night and until then try coffee.
Kid got troubles at school? Keep trudging. You’ll get through it.
Problems at work? Financial troubles? Sports injury? Homework overload? Transportation issues? Car broke down? Migraines? Endless to do list? Crazy committees? Charity work? Just overwhelmed with high stress volume for any combo of all of the above?
Keep doggie-paddling. It’s only for a season. It’s not forever.
These growing pains in our faith and trials of perseverance often threaten to undo us but as time progresses, we find out we are capable (with the help of the Almighty) of far more than we previously figured.
It’s only for a season…and there is always a reason…so keep pushing through and putting one foot in front of the other. Walking with you is the One who planned the good works for your life way ahead of your arrival, so trust Him who is faithful. (Ephesians 2:10)
