Yesterday’s post about getting fit got quite a bit of traction! I was so encouraged to hear that so many of you were either already working out and doing whatever you felt would lead you to a more healthy version of you!
I wanted to share a little bit about what I am doing and see if maybe there would be some interest in moms who read this blog meeting up locally and in groups wherever you all live, and training for a race together?
Personally, I am using the Whole30 dietary regimen. Basically, I am eating meats, fruits, and veggies. It sounds super restrictive but as soon as I realized that this was a very simple and still very filling way to eat that didn’t involve weighing food or counting points, I thought this would work best for me.
I also have added going to the gym for weights at least three times a week. I had already been running/walking and was not seeing the results, but as soon as I added weights, things started to move around. I also enjoy this little app called Runtastic that gives me simple body weight exercises and the workouts are 3-5 minutes a piece. I string a few of those together and that makes for a heckuva workout.
My family has been doing 5ks, half marathons, and marathons for as long as I can remember. I’m not the fastest thing by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love to run. Local moms, let’s pick a 5k race and train and do it together! My friends and mamas who live far away– how about a little 5k in your neck of the woods and y’all can share some pictures with me? I’d love to feature you or your group of friends or your family on the blog. As my father in law always said, “the family that trains together, stays together.”
Whatever you decide to do on your quest to becoming a healthier, stronger mama or father, or sister or brother….I’m proud of you for every step you take in that direction. I’ll be cheering you on and believing with you!
