It’s so easy nowadays to make people our friends by adding them on social media. It’s pretty effortless and it doesn’t require a lot of relationship building. We kinda just add them and then enjoy looking at their Instagram, Twitter or Facebook pages. But with all these “friends,” it’s STILL so easy to be lonely.
However, God is the Ultimate Friend.
He’s been following us all along.
He created us. He loved us when we didn’t even know Him. He’s been with us through all of our greatest hurts, wanting to help. He’s able to heal and restore everything we’ve lost.
Truth is, God friended us first. Now we just gotta follow back.
He’s reaching out to us because He’s honestly interested in us and our lives. He loves us so much, just as we are.
If we take one small step towards Him–He’ll come running!!! (Think of the Prodigal Son…the Father came running towards him while the young man was still a long way off.) He’s bringing all His mercy (which saves us from all the bad we deserve) and all his abounding grace (giving us all the good gifts we don’t deserve).
Following God is as simple as a “follow back.” It’s enjoyable. Effortless. God’s got some amazing things he wants us to enjoy by being His friend. We get a new life, special status as His Beloved Child, with complete freedom from our past and our future mistakes. We have, by our side, the One True Friend who’ll never leave us. Friend Him now–He’s checking His feed constantly to see if that friend request was accepted! F4f? Follow for follow?

“Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.” – 2 Corinthians 5:19-20
“I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.” – John 15:14-15

“He loved us when we didn’t even know Him.” That is so powerful. Thank you.

This is amazing! I love reading about the Lord, especially when somebody can put it into a perspective that makes more sense now a days. I love the bible but sometimes I just don’t understand everything God is trying to say. Thanks for sharing!! Check out my website for Christian apparel and tell me what you think! I just started it so hopefully there will be lots more to come. ☺️ God Bless!!
