If you know me, you know I love Rocky. I’ve used clips from his films before on the blog, referenced him in lots of different articles, and used him as an example tons of times.
Because the truth is, we’re all fighting for our families.
We fight the voices in our heads that disqualify us in our parenting and tell us we can’t do it, we’re screwing it up, or we are up against too strong of odds.
We fight against a societal norm that drags us towards lackadaisical living, laissez-faire parenting, and lackluster passion.
We struggle at times internally within our families…sometimes its between husband and wife, child to parent and of course parent to child.
And Lord knows there have been plenty of nights where I have gone to bed feeling like this:
Rocky Balboa after 15 rounds with the Russian only able to barely utter, “Yo Adrian, I love you!”
I crawl into bed and just whisper– Yo Adrian…and David knows… It’s been one of those days.
So this weekend when we visited Rocky’s hometown of Philadelphia, we simply had to stop at the famous 76 steps of the Art Museum and take photos in front of Rocky’s statue. I’ll have a video to follow up with this post soon…but in the meantime I just wanted to encourage you moms and dads to keep fighting the good fight. Keep going, the whole distance– all 15 rounds. Because the win that’s guaranteed us on the other side of this epic battle for our families is so exceedingly worth it!
