“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
Do not let fear steal your joy as a parent. It can be so easy to get trapped by fear and making decisons on how to parent based on fear. Focus on the One who is your strength, your light and your salvation – The Lord. Don’t forget who is on your side in this battle for the salvation of your children’s souls or for the God-given purpose for their lives.

He will give you light when you don’t know what to do as a mom or dad. He will give direction and a path. He will give strength when you are weary and full of doubt. Believe in Him and be bold in your parenting, because He is on your side. Fear no more.

Raising sons has been the surprise joy of my life. You are spot on–they are physically so strong and constantly active but can be so incredibly gentle, even as preschoolers. This world does need boys who are gentlemen–who have manners, know how to honor and respect women, and to be noble (talk about an unfashionable word!) When our 5th was born in late Aug, my 8 (now 9) year old son would be the first in the house to get up. He would turn on the lights, start my coffee, feed the dog, and pack lunch boxes. THEN he would come into my room and quietly say “time to get up, Mom” before goung to help his little sister wake up and put on her school uniform (the visual of him pulling on her knee high socks is so tender.) This happened all year. He knew I was caring for baby at night and this was one thing he could do for me (I never requested it). I share this small example to agree with you that boys are a special kind of wonderful with proper guidance as to what manhood means in this mixed up generation. The potential is there even at a young age, but you are so right, Lyette, that intentional training is most imperative! Thank you for sharing and reinspiring us moms who have the privilege of raising sons. It requires a special level of effort, energy, patience, and love when they are young!
