This Thursday I will be hosting an evening of prayer and open dialogue between all kinds of cross sections of our community. But with all the recent attacks on our police forces across the country I had been thinking of what we could possibly do…some small step to show some love to those who keep us safe. Who protect and serve. To those who now find themselves targets in a hostile environment. I then I thought of our friends at Bolay.
“Want me to deliver some food?”
“Of course. Tell me how many and when you’ll be by.”
That was as much text conversation as I had with Chris Gannon, and again, as a team we were able to bless those who find themselves on the front lines.
So my oldest three daughters, Ransom and I headed over to Bolay where we were handed catering pans FULL of barbecue chicken, grilled cauliflower and gingered broccoli and basmati rice.
When we showed up at the Wellington Sheriff’s department and security headquarters, we were met by a little confusion and resistance.
Food? Why? From Where? Our guys are already out for the night. We don’t know what to do with this but maybe head over to the fire department.
I politely asked the gentleman at the desk to call the officer in charge of the shift.
“The sergeant don’t like us interrupting him, but I’ll call him and see what he says….”
“Tell him the food is from Bolay!”I hollered as he removed himself to another room to make the call.
Two minutes later he returned with a big smile on his face.
“The sergeant LOVES Bolay! He said bring it on it and he’ll make sure the night shift guys swing by!”
A handsome officer who was at least 6’5″ opened the break room door. Big smile on his face he said, “I LOVE Bolay!’ And then he recognized my two girls who work there, and they chatted about new locations the police force was hoping would open up and what their favorite side dishes were. I was just happy to see the smiles on their faces.
We told them the food was a small gift and a little way to tell them that we are grateful for their service and we are praying for their safety.[bctt tweet=” I would encourage all of us to reach out to our local law enforcement officers and show them some love, some appreciation. ” username=”lyettereback”]Let them know we are praying for them. Bake some cookies. Make a sign for your kids to hold up in the car as you see first responders out and about town and you drive by them. Carry extra copies of your Christmas cards and just write on them that you are praying for them and have your kids pass them to law enforcement officers at restaurants, parks, or wherever you may run into them. Support and encouragement matters. Prayer matters. And a warm meal goes a long way. Thanks Bolay for for always being willing to give to those in need of some warm kindness wrapped up in healthy food. And it doesn’t hurt if it’s delivered by some pretty girls!

They best way to bless your local police department is to write your town council and support your police department getting annual raises. So many departments go years without even a cost of living raise.
Amanda Yannotta says
On this one Brandon Michael! I would never have thought to do this! But also be looking for my tribe in our hoopty with our signs! ?
